We will be re-building our full text search infrastructure which will result in a short period where there will be no full text search results or the results will be limited.
The current image handling for both MastodonAppUK and Universeodon depend on ImageMagic which is being deprecated in a future version of Mastodon with LibVips being the new engine we should be using. We will need to install and configure LibVips and switch Mastodon over to using it as part of this maintenance.
We do not expect there to be any impact to our community during this time and the maintenance will be performed in a way which will minimise any risk for disruption.
We will be performing a migration and configuration change to support moving our Redis server to the new infrastructure setup. As part of this we will need to take the site offline for a short period of time to switch over and ensure no data is lost.
We will be performing maintenance to switch our Database server from the legacy server cluster to our new server cluster. As part of this we will need to take the site offline for a short amount of time to facilitate the switch over to our new server infrastructure.
We expect the outage itself to last no more than approx 45 mins and will do what we can to minimise the disruption.
Service was restored a couple of hours after the incident started.
The gateway restarted itself once it detected it had locked up after about an hour. It looks like something caused it's memory to go to 100% and CPU to pin at 100% and it went down hill from there. I've pulled diagnostics off the host to share with the vendor to get to a root cause. Content processing is catching up but all systems should now be operational. We will continue to monitor over the next couple of days.
We are still waiting on an update from our network and service provider. We think it is likely isolated to just our equipment again which is not ideal, we had hoped that the previous stability issues were fully resolved but it does appear that this is no longer the case.
We're currently seeing disruption to our Redditch data centre connectivity. This appeared to start as just DNS related issues but the entire site is now unreachable from our remote team. We're raising an issue with the provider at this time and will update you ASAP.
