MastodonApp.UK Website Intermittent 500 errors

We are seeing intermittent errors on the Mastodon site. This is the result we believe of scaling up to cope with increased delays to our content processing. We are working to increase our database processing which we believe will resolve the issue.

  • We have been able to make some tweaks to our existing infrastructure which has helped to minimise these issues. At the same time the number of concurrent users on the site we believe has dropped as the night has got later, which has reduced the number of issues we've been seeing. We are planning to increase the site's scale tomorrow.

    We are seeing increased errors on the MastodonApp.UK Site. Support believe this is due to the significant increase in traffic and are working to resolve the issue.

    MastodonApp.UK Website IOS & Android App Partial Outage - Mastodon

    We are currently monitoring reports of the Android and IOS App for Mastodon currently being overloaded and resulting in partial outages for users of our service.

    We are also currently closely monitoring our own server performance as we're seeing a significant increase in traffic.

  • We've completed essential maintenance which has significantly boosted the servers performance. We're continuing to monitor and will look to continue optimising the instance over the coming days and weeks.

  • We are now seeing substantial performance degradation to the website. As a result we're pausing new sign-up registrations until we can get to the root cause of the poor performance.

  • MastodonApp.UK Website Performance Issues on mastodonapp service

    We're getting reports that a number of users are seeing performance challenges with our service. Support are actively investigating and looking to resolve these issues ASAP.

  • Performance has now improved, we're still running a limited registration for the time being. Please see the app announcements for further updates.

  • We have had to temporarily disable new user registration to the instance while we work to strengthen the infrastructure running the service. We're currently adding enhanced monitoring and looking to clean-up and optimise the instance where possible.

  • We've made some adjustments to the database configuration which we believe should increase the performance of the instance. We're also enhancing our monitoring of the environment to try to detect this earlier in the future.

    Major outage

    We have identified an issue in both the French and London regions which has resulted in a temporary outage of service.

  • We are happy to confirm that all services are operational.

  • We have applied a fix to our French Region infrastructure and believe it should now have resolved the issue. Support will continue to monitor.

  • We can confirm the London region was not impacted. Apologies for any confusion.

    CI Server New Build Failure

    We are investigating issues where our ci build server is failing to provide new builds of Scissors. Updates to follow.

    [MAINTENANCE NOTIFICATION] TF Network & DB03 Restart - 30 Oct 19:00 UTC

    This is a Maintenance Notification

    We will need to perform a restart of the entire TF Network to allow for DB03 to be restarted. This is essential as we need to apply various updates to the DB Server.

  • Maintenance has been completed without issue.

    VPS Control Panel VPSCP - Partial Outage

    Our VPSCP is currently experiencing network communication issues with the servers within our French and London Regions. We believe this is due to the server being hosted on 3rd party infrastructure which is currently suffering from maintenance to their core backbone. This is impacting our ability to provision additional IPV4 capacity and manage the VPS Infrastructure.

  • Full service has now been restored.

  • We currently are only seeing issues between the VPS Control Panel and our London Region. We're continuing to monitor the situation and will be releasing the additional IPV4 capacity and processing orders as soon as connectivity has been restored.

  • London Region IP Capacity Issues - London Region

    We are working to add additional IPV4 capacity to our London region, which at the current time has been fully utilised. This is preventing the deployment of some client orders. We aim to have the issue resolved within the next 1 hour.

  • We have now released additional capacity into the London Region.

    Freedom Minecraft Server Freedom Server - Network Backbone Maintenance

    We have been made aware that the upstream provider for our Freedom game-mode server are currently performing essential maintenance to their network backbone. As a result we're seeing significant disruption when attempting to connect from the Superior Networks Infrastructure to this 3rd party companies network. For the time being the Freedom server and dev environments hosted on MC-02 have been taken offline.

  • The 3rd party provider that hosts the Freedom Servers physical infrastructure have now concluded their maintenance and we have been able to restore full service as of around 1 hour ago.

  • Network Bungee TF Network - Connectivity Issues

    We are investigating issues impacting player connectivity to the TF Network.

  • It appears the root cause of these issues is scheduled maintenance to one of the physical hosts network backbone which powers the server. Status page being updated accordingly.

  • London Region London Region - Poor Network Connectivity

    We are seeing reports of poor network connectivity within our London region impacting a number of services. Support are currently troubleshooting the issue.

  • Upon further investigation, we believe this is being caused by certain customers trying to download / access resources that are impacted by a 3rd party's major network maintenance. We are not seeing any performance issues within our region and connectivity to other common infrastructure providers. We will continue to monitor the situation.

  • Network Bungee Login Issues to TF Network

    We have identified a major issue with the Network Bungee to the TF Network which is preventing players connecting. Urgent maintenance is currently being undertaken to resolve the issue.

  • We are fully satisfied that the mitigation steps put in place yesterday have stuck and the network bungee is operating as expected.

  • We have re-started the network bungee software. At the current time we believe the fault to be linked to some background OS Updates that were applied earlier today which included critical Java patches. We believe the restart to the network bungee resolved the issues we have been seeing with failing to connect.
